Exciting news! I made it through Painting Drama 1, a composition and visual storytelling course mentored by Chris Oatley through Oatley Academy.
It was a rare and valuable chance to absorb vast amounts of visual storytelling wizardry, which I hope will truly affect my art going forward. My brain is still processing it all.
Here are a couple of pieces (along with just a few development sketches) I did for the class. Hoping to share more soon:
I’m so thankful for such personalized guidance from the amazing Chris Oatley, and priceless interaction with classmates. Check out the work of my fellow PD students at the links below:

Inktober 2015 :). See all my ink drawings here.
Just making note of some projects that are finished and available to the masses :).
Norse Mythology poster, size 24″x18″ : available for purchase here.
Nanny and Me – children’s book, written by Florence Ann Romano, illustrated by Sydni Kruger (yay!). Available for purchase on Amazon. Reviewed on Goodreads.
More to come :)
This is a poster commission I did for a folk band ( www.sassafrassmusic.com/ ). They sent it to buyers of their newest CD this month. It is a self-contained illustration of the world according to Norse mythology. The places and characters are all labeled in this image; I will be uploading a text-free version soon.

This year I took on the inktober challenge (one ink drawing a day for each day in October, posted to Instagram or other social media sites) along with artists around the world.
Take a look at www.inktober.com to see what it’s all about, and check out my own gallery of fresh ink drawings :). Click here or see the Sketchbook tab.
Some of these are available as prints at http://society6.com/sydniart/prints :).
A sketch for the lion-hearted dads on Father’s Day :)
Progress on my digital painting assignment from Oatley Academy.
This character makes me think of a lion-tamer.. Some weird irony there :-P.
Preliminary drawings, color comps, and the painting by John Singer Sargent that I used for the assignment.
